Well the Tuna Bite for 2008 is looks like it's one for the books. There was a good run of big fish that stayed on Stellwagon bank until the very end of August and even into December off Chatham. There have been soem beautiful Giants taken and still around.
The 2nd week of August my friend Capt Bruce Weinstein of F.V. Fin Reaper came onboard the F.V. Rhode Island Popper and we decided to make an early "first light" trip to the south west corner of Stellwagon Bank and the action was on. There were big fish breaking all over the place. We set up a spread using 2 spreader bars one pink and one black. and on a Way back we ran a white Sluggo and in short we ran a hard-body mackerel swimmer. Well first time through the fish we were turning to run through again and BANG the black spreader went off. 10 minutes later we had a 57" fish on the deck of the boat.

This nice 30 pound Bluefin came in on Friday the 1st of August aboard the Rhode Island Popper. We got him just a mile south of the Fairway bouy S.E. of Block Island. He hit a Green Machine styled plug behind an Atlantic Offshore Lures Custom Bird. We were running the Bird way back about 80 yards down the middle of our 5 rod spread. Armand Tetreault Capt.
